The County of Sonoma Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week crisis intervention, assessment, medication, and up to 23 hours of supportive care for individuals in an acute mental health crisis. Services are available for children, youth, adults, and their families.Referrals are made to Crisis Residential Services or inpatient mental health facilities for those needing a higher level of psychiatric inpatient care.

Provides crisis support in response to a 911 call using a law-enforcement-first model. MST teams must be invited by law enforcement after consideration of safety issues. The public may contact a MST team directly, keeping in mind that limited staffing means that MST may or may not be available. When calling 911 in a mental health emergency, callers are advised that MST support be requested.

Responds to calls for service in the City of Santa Rosa with a mental health-first model. The team is available 7 days/week, noon-10 PM. Comprised of a licensed mental health clinician, paramedic, and homeless outreach specialist. Supported by wrap-around support services providers. Trained in de-escalation and social work interventions as well as physical and mental health evaluations. Works in partnership with Santa Rosa Police Department, but is unarmed and best equipped to support and provide mental health resources to those experiencing a crisis.
Handles all calls for service where mental health is the primary concern, including:
Individuals with suicidal ideation
Sheltered or unsheltered individuals experiencing a mental health crisis
Individuals or families in need of mental health support and resources
Individuals who are intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance
Individuals struggling with mental health stability & need emergency shelter resources
Welfare checks (when no crime is suspected)
Requests for non-emergency medical evaluations and transports, including prescription drug refill transport and transportation to medical appointments
If there is any indication of violence or a weapon, a police officer will respond first, but then transition services to the inRESPONSE team once the situation is deemed safe. inRESPONSE also partners with the City’s Homeless Outreach Services Team (HOST) to identify unsheltered community members who may be experiencing a mental health crisis, to get individuals into a more stable living environment with ongoing, wrap-around support services.

SAFE (Specialized Assistance for Everyone) provides mobile crisis response to Petaluma. The Team consists of a medic (nurse, paramedic, or EMT) and a crisis worker. SAFE Team provides 3 main services to the community:
Emergency response for issues relating to mental health, addiction, and homelessness
Non-emergency response for people in need
Proactive community outreach
Team is accompanied by police officers to calls for service if a person is armed, believed to be in danger of causing harm to themselves or others, or if emergency medical care is needed. Team does not provide emergency medical care or execute involuntary mental health holds (5150s). Services include responding to people under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in need of treatment for mental illness, or in need of shelter (by providing counseling and transportation to the appropriate location). Team also addresses minor medical complaints that do not require emergency department.
